healing therapies

I am so encouraged by finding this information on this website from the U of M. I have been discovering alternative therapies by accident for years after frustrating experiences with Dr.s who don't listen, patronize, or don't have answers but can't admit it. I believe most Dr.s and others in the (western) medical profession mean well but are caught up in a convoluted system tainted by politics, power and money. I believe they need a LOT more training in nutrition as an effective means to treat most everything and make people responsible for their own health outcomes. I am encouraged that you have created this site with comprehensive information and it is a start for positive change for the medical profession to enhance itself with truth, not confusion and life giving relationships instead of fear, intimidation and animosity. There are many options that spare us the toxicity of pharmaceuticals, drug interactions and surgery by opening people to education and encorporate personal power. The mind is a powerful thing! I would like to learn more about becoming involved with art therapy as a profession. I have been a commercial artist and art teacher, fine artist and photographer and also worked as a psych tech in a treatment facility. Now in my mid fifties, I would like to pursue this area. It just feels like everything coming together. Any thoughts or advice? and THANK YOU!

Response to Linda (above)

Linda, I encourage you to check out any Free Arts organizations in your community. Free Arts Minnesota is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing the healing powers of artistic expression into the lives of abused, neglected, and at-risk children and their families.

There are a growing number of free arts organizations across the US. At the Center for Spirituality & Healing, we are seeking funding to establish an arts and healing program that supports education, research, and outreach efforts.

Thanks for your interest in our work!
