Richard Hammerschlag, PhD, is Dean of Research at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, where, during the past nine years, he has coordinated collaborative clinical trials of acupuncture and Chinese herbs for TMD, MS-specific fatigue, and endometriosis-related pelvic pain, as well as a study of bioelectrical properties of acupuncture points. He co-edited Acupuncture Research: Strategies for Establishing an Evidence Base (2007), serves as a Senior Editor for the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, and was co-president of the Society for Acupuncture Research from 1997 to 2003.
