A few years ago, in my early 40s, I was experiencing extreme insomnia. I could fall asleep and sleep for about two hours, but then I'd be awake for up to four hours. I was getting about 4-6 hours of sleep each night (with six hours being a "good" night!). I was exhausted during the day, often needing to lie down. I am a bodywork specialist, and I could really only see one or two clients each day. I had always been physically active and healthy, but had to cut back on my exercise.
The insomnia not only reduced my energy, but affected my adrenals. I had problems with my muscles twitching, and experienced anxiety. I didn't want to take pharmaceutical sleep aids, but tried a few complementary therapies like acupuncture and bodywork. I also meditated, as that is my spiritual practice. Although these methods were helpful, I still had insomnia, and was still dealing with the outcomes of living on such limited sleep.
After about three years, I knew that I needed a treatment that addressed my entire nervous system, indeed my entire self, in a profound and deep way. My sister suggested trying homeopathy. I met with a local practitioner, who interviewed me for two and a half hours. She prescribed a constitutional remedy that matched my symptoms. It helped almost instantly with my sleep problems. After six months, she recommended a different constitutional remedy which, over time, brought improvement after improvement.
I think that homeopathy restored my equilibrium, physically, mentally, and spiritually. At first I felt somewhat resistant, because using homeopathy requires a financial commitment. Perhaps even more importantly, it requires a personal commitment to really stick with it. Remedies take time to work, and there is usually trial and error involved. But over time, it really worked for me.
I would recommend homeopathy, and do so with my clients. Our daughters also use it, in addition to our regular MD. I think it's fair to say homeopathy has made a dramatic difference in our lives.
